Manchester United make inquiries for two midfielders – Atletico trip used to hold meetings

Manchester United have sounded out Atletico Madrid's Barrios and Barcelona's Fermín López about possible moves, with no formal negotiations underway.

Manchester United have made initial inquiries for Pablo Barrios and Fermín López as they seek to strengthen their midfield. According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the club has sounded out both players about a potential move to Old Trafford, though no formal negotiations are taking place.

Barrios plays for Atletico Madrid and Fermín López for Barcelona. Moretto reports that United took advantage of their recent Champions League trip to Madrid to hold meetings about signings. However, he notes it is highly unlikely either player will leave their current club, with Barrios described as indispensable to Atletico and Fermín a key figure for Barcelona.

United may have better prospects with Barcelona, who Moretto suggests will likely listen to offers for regular starters between January and summer, as the club needs to generate sales.
