Upheaval looming at Lyon? Paulo Fonseca in talks with another club

Sporting CP reportedly in talks with Lyon manager Fonseca as a potential replacement for Rui Borges.

Paulo Fonseca, who arrived at Lyon in January 2025 to replace Pierre Sage, is reportedly being targeted by Sporting CP. According to CNN Portugal, the 53-year-old manager is already in discussions with the Portuguese club as they consider contingency plans following inconsistent results this season. Sporting, currently third in the Primeira Liga, view Fonseca as their priority option should they decide to part ways with current manager Rui Borges. Fonseca has not managed in Portugal since leaving Sporting Braga in 2016. Negotiations could accelerate during the next international break.
