García: "They are good footballers and they need to have the ball"

Interim manager Sergio García celebrated Espanyol's 1-0 win at Villarreal, their first victory in six games, lifting them out of the relegation zone.

Sergio García enjoyed a perfect start as interim manager of RCD Espanyol, guiding the club to a 1-0 victory at Villarreal that ended a six-game winless run and lifted them out of the relegation places.

In his post-match press conference, García praised his players' mentality and belief. "When you come from a bad run, it's about believing in yourselves," he said. "They are good footballers, great players, and they need to have the ball. If they believed in themselves, they could have done even more damage." The former Spain U-17 coach highlighted the importance of confidence after a difficult period, noting that the team showed their best version on the day.

García also praised the academy players who made their debuts under his watch, including Alejandro Santiago as a starter and Jan Peries, saying he was impressed by their daily performances and that they would continue to fight for the club.
