Calero wary: "Albert Sánchez is a Barcelona school coach"

Oviedo manager Calero warns Las Palmas will maintain their possession-based style under new coach Albert Sánchez, who follows Barcelona's tactical philosophy.

former Real Oviedo manager Julián Calero addressed the media ahead of Monday's match against UD Las Palmas at Carlos Tartiere (16:15). He acknowledged Las Palmas as a strong opponent with high-quality players, noting they are built to compete in the upper reaches of the table despite their recent managerial change.

Calero expressed confidence that Las Palmas' new head coach Albert Sánchez will maintain a similar style of play to his predecessor. "He is a coach from the Barcelona school, who has always sought for his teams to be protagonists through the ball," Calero explained. The Oviedo boss drew parallels with his own Levante side from the 2024–25 season, which he believes shares tactical similarities with the incoming Las Palmas approach.

Calero also noted he will have winger Ilyas Chaira available for league competition for the first time this season, describing him as a player destined to be important for the team.
