Kai Rooney's rise at Manchester United - four goals in one game and advice from dad

The 16-year-old scored four goals in Manchester United's 6-0 U18s win over Burnley and is progressing through the academy ranks toward a potential first-team debut.

Kai Rooney, the oldest son of former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, is making an impressive start to his career in the club's academy. The 16-year-old scored four goals in a dominant 6-0 victory for the Under-18s against Burnley this week, earning praise from U18 manager Darren Fletcher despite recent injury setbacks.

Rooney has recorded a goal contribution in every league appearance for the U18s this season and has also featured for the Under-19s in the UEFA Youth League and the Under-21s in Premier League 2, the closest youth level to the first team. He signed his scholarship deal over the summer and will be eligible to sign professional terms when he turns 17 next week.

While his father has acknowledged the unique pressure of carrying the Rooney name, Wayne has said his son "has put himself in a good position" in his pursuit of a professional career. Kai's parents have made efforts to keep him grounded and protect him from unwanted attention, allowing him to focus on football. The youngster has been training like a professional at Carrington and managing his diet carefully as he works toward the goal of making his first-team debut at Old Trafford.
