Andoni Iraola pinpoints what cost Liverpool in Arsenal defeat and explains his substitutions

Liverpool lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal after a poor start; Iraola felt his side dominated after conceding and should have scored.

Liverpool fell to a 1-0 defeat against defending Premier League champions Arsenal at Anfield, with Kai Havertz scoring after 16 minutes following a poor pass from Alisson Becker.

Manager Andoni Iraola acknowledged his team's sluggish opening but praised their response after going behind. "Until we conceded the goal, I think the start hasn't been at the level of the game," he said. "But from that 1-0, I think it's 15 or 16 minutes, I've loved the reaction of the team."

Iraola felt Liverpool created enough chances to win, citing a Mac Allister header as a clear opportunity and claiming Alexander Isak was fouled by Jurrien Timber when attempting to reach a Bradley Barcola cross—a penalty he believed should have been awarded. He made late substitutions bringing on Rio Ngumoha, Victor Munoz and Dominik Szoboszlai to try different attacking approaches, but Arsenal's defensive solidity held firm.
