Challinor's record fits the bill for Wednesday

Dave Challinor appointed Sheffield Wednesday manager; seven promotions on his record and League One experience from Stockport.

Sheffield Wednesday have appointed Dave Challinor as their new manager. The appointment comes as the club's new owners seek a winner capable of turning recent poor form around.

Challinor arrives with an impressive track record of seven promotions across his managerial career and has direct League One experience from his time at Stockport County. His immediate task will be to unite a talented but disparate Wednesday squad into a cohesive team and establish an effective style of play.

The challenge is significant: Wednesday are expected to compete for promotion whenever they are in League One, with previous manager Darren Moore setting a benchmark of 96 points in the division. Challinor is expected to bring assistant coaches Clint Hill and Anthony Sweeney with him, while Simon Wilson, who worked with him at Stockport, was instrumental in securing the appointment.
