Brian Brobbey signs contract extension at bottom club Sunderland after Bayern Munich interest

Brobbey extends Sunderland contract to 2031 after Bayern Munich interest earlier in the year.

Brian Brobbey has signed a contract extension with Sunderland, committing to the Premier League club until 2031. The 24-year-old Dutch striker joined from Ajax last season for £21.6m and scored seven goals in his debut campaign, which earned interest from Bayern Munich over the summer. This season has been more difficult for both player and club; Brobbey has netted three goals, all in a 5-3 defeat to Manchester City, while Sunderland sit bottom of the league with five points from nine matches. He has also missed four games with a hamstring injury in October. Brobbey said he felt the club's ambition and wanted to keep improving at Sunderland.
