Phil Foden sets sights on England recall and says he has had no contact with Tuchel

Foden has not spoken to Tuchel since the World Cup and is targeting a recall to the England squad after being omitted from recent selections.

Phil Foden is working towards an England recall after being left out of Thomas Tuchel's squad for last summer's World Cup and the Nations League games this season. The Manchester City attacker revealed he has had no contact with Tuchel since the World Cup to discuss what the manager wants to see from him. "No, I haven't really spoken to him to be honest, so not much to say on that," Foden said.

Foden acknowledged the ups and downs of football and is focused on putting in strong performances to force his way back into Tuchel's plans. He noted that a recall for the next round of Nations League games, with the squad to be named on Friday, may come too soon. The 26-year-old has been in good form recently, involved in many goals and feeling sharp after recovering from a three-match ban following a red card against Manchester United in September.

Meanwhile, Manchester City manager Enzo Maresca acknowledged that the club cannot rely solely on Erling Haaland to score in every game. Despite Haaland's 13 goals in 34 across all competitions this season, City's 1-0 loss to Brighton was their first game without a goal. Maresca stressed the need for other players to contribute more in front of goal, with Foden having scored four goals including a hat-trick against AEK Athens in the Champions League.
