Giráldez on Saint-Gilloise: "One of the best teams we've analysed"

Celta manager Giráldez praised Union Saint-Gilloise ahead of Thursday's Europa League clash, calling them one of the best teams his side has analysed this season.

Celta manager Claudio Giráldez held his pre-match press conference ahead of Thursday's Europa League group stage fixture against Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise, offering detailed tactical analysis and defending his squad's form.

Giráldez was full of praise for the opposition, describing them as among the best teams Celta have studied in European competition. He highlighted their impressive record: 15 matches played with only one defeat, which came in extra time in a Champions League qualifier. Last season they narrowly missed the Champions League group stage on goal difference.

The Celta boss outlined Saint-Gilloise's tactical approach, noting their 3-4-3 formation (which can shift to 3-5-2), their aggressive pressing, and their tendency to play vertically with young, high-potential players. He identified intensity and countering their high press as key to the match.

Giráldez also addressed criticism of his team's start to the season, urging patience and backing his players. He stressed the importance of unity and noted the unusual achievement of fielding 13 academy graduates in the squad, calling it rare in world football.
