Napoli interested in Gavi

Napoli have made contact with Barcelona over a potential move for Gavi, who has fallen down the pecking order at Camp Nou this season.

Gavi's limited playing time at Barcelona this season has attracted interest from Napoli, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato. The Spanish midfielder has managed just 146 minutes across four La Liga appearances and 45 minutes in three Champions League outings, with the arrival of Rodri over the summer intensifying competition in midfield alongside Pedri, Bernal, De Jong, Fermín and Dani Olmo.

Napoli have reportedly begun preliminary talks with Barcelona about a potential transfer, with the Catalan club open to letting Gavi leave for €40 million. The move could materialise during the January transfer window as Napoli look to strengthen their midfield following a run of injuries in recent weeks.

Gavi rejected Manchester United's interest last summer, keen to remain at Barcelona after earning World Cup selection through his performances in the final stretch of last season. However, his diminished role this campaign has changed the landscape.
