Peer Koopmeiners: "It will be special to play against my brother Teun"

Peer Koopmeiners will face his brother Teun for the first time in a competitive match when AZ Alkmaar hosts Juventus in the Europa League.

AZ Alkmaar and Juventus meet for the first time in the Europa League, with an added storyline: brothers Peer and Teun Koopmeiners will face each other on the pitch. Peer, a midfielder for AZ, grew up with his younger brother at the Dutch club before Teun moved to Italy, first to Atalanta and now to Juventus.

Speaking to Sky Sport ahead of the match, Peer called the occasion "very special" and expressed pride in his brother's achievements. "It will be special to face a brother in Europa League, also for the family and probably for Teun too," he said. "I know what he means to the club and the fans, and how much he has given. I'm proud of him and I admire him."

Peer acknowledged Juventus's experience in European competition but backed AZ to compete. "They have more experience than us in Europe, but we have our fans and our quality. We need to be brave and play with confidence to get a result."
