Is Estevao ready to explode?

Estevao impressed on his first Premier League start for Chelsea against Man Utd, with manager Xabi Alonso praising his work rate and potential.

Estevao finally received his first Premier League start of the season in Chelsea's match against Manchester United, and made an immediate impact despite not getting on the scoresheet. The 19-year-old had two goals ruled out by VAR, including an emphatic near-post finish, and led all players with the most shots and touches in the opposition box. He covered his highest distances at high speed and earned praise from manager Xabi Alonso for his off-the-ball work and physical effort.

Alonso had previously suggested Estevao needed time to build fitness following an injury-hit first season at the club. The performance against United suggests he is now ready for more regular minutes. Notably, Estevao combined frequently with Cole Palmer, exchanging 16 passes compared to just two between Palmer and Pedro Neto in a previous start, with Chelsea directing 52 per cent of their attacks down Estevao's flank—up from 36 per cent in their first eight games.

The rapturous reception from Stamford Bridge supporters indicates Chelsea fans are eager to see more of the talented winger in the coming weeks.
