Míchel uncertain if Wijndal's form enough for Netherlands call-up

Míchel says he's unsure if Wijndal's performances are enough to earn a Netherlands call-up, though he hopes Ajax will soon have a player in the Oranje squad.

former Ajax manager Míchel Sánchez was asked about Owen Wijndal's chances of being selected for the Netherlands national team after the left-back scored in Ajax's 3-0 Conference League win over FC Midtjylland. Wijndal's own supporters chanted "Owen in Oranje" from the away section in Denmark.

Míchel acknowledged Wijndal's efforts to catch the eye but expressed uncertainty about whether his performances will be sufficient for a senior call-up. The Spanish manager also mentioned other Ajax players hoping for international recognition, including Youri Baas, Aaron Bouwman and Dies Janse, saying he hopes one of them will soon represent the Netherlands.

The next Netherlands squad selection under coach Xavi Hernández will be announced on Friday.
