AS Roma fans think Manchester United star has been mocking them on social media

Cunha scored twice in Manchester United's 3-2 comeback win over Roma; his Instagram comment on a Roma defender's post sparked backlash from Italian fans.

Manchester United came from 2-0 down to beat AS Roma 3-1 in the Champions League on Wednesday, ending a nine-match winless run. Matheus Cunha was the standout performer, scoring twice after Bruno Fernandes converted a penalty in the 58th minute. Cunha capitalised on a Leonardo Balerdi error to equalise in the 83rd minute before adding the winner three minutes later.

After the match, Balerdi posted on Instagram expressing his disappointment about the defeat. Cunha commented "Crack" on the post, which sparked a backlash from Roma supporters who interpreted it as mockery. In South American Portuguese, "crack" or "craque" is typically used as praise, though Italian fans appear to have taken it differently.

Cunha, who joined Manchester United from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2025, called it his best match at Old Trafford so far, saying the win could be the moment that changes everything for the club's season.
