Fermín: "Atlético hurt us last season and we must control the details"

Fermín López reaches 150 Barça appearances and 100 La Liga games ahead of Sunday's visit to Atlético Madrid, seeking revenge after last season's two eliminations.

Fermín López marked his 150th appearance for Barcelona with a 3-0 Champions League win over Aston Villa on Tuesday. The 23-year-old midfielder will reach his 100th La Liga game on Sunday when Barcelona visit Atlético Madrid, a fixture carrying extra significance after last season's painful eliminations.

In an exclusive interview, López acknowledged the rivalry and the lessons learned. "Last season they hurt us, they eliminated us twice," he said. "We know it's a big team that will make it very difficult for us. We have to control all the details, play our football and hopefully we win there because it would be an important victory to go top."

López also reflected on a previous injury at the Metropolitano, when he suffered a broken lip that forced him off the pitch during a Champions League tie. "It hurt a lot, especially because they eliminated us," he said. "If that ball had gone in, maybe it would have been a different match. You think about many things, but you learn from everything."
