1-0: Boca are champions in a final as dramatic as it is extraordinary

Boca Juniors won the Argentine Annual Tournament 1-0 against Defensa y Justicia with a 96th-minute goal from Enner Valencia, clinching their 75th title.

Boca Juniors claimed the Argentine Annual Tournament championship with a dramatic 1-0 victory over Defensa y Justicia, sealed by Enner Valencia's goal in the 96th minute. The winning moment came from a cross by Lautaro Blanco that goalkeeper Matías Borgogno of Defensa y Justicia failed to collect, leaving Valencia to finish calmly.

The title race went down to the final moments. Rosario Central, managed by Ángel Di María, defeated Estudiantes de Río Cuarto 2-0 but needed Boca to lose. In a bizarre turn of events, Central's players and fans briefly celebrated believing they had won the championship, even invading the pitch, before being told of their error. Argentinos Juniors, the third contender, lost 0-2 at home to Huracán and was eliminated.

Boca finished with 63 points across 32 matches in the combined Apertura and Clausura seasons, ahead of Rosario Central's 62 and Argentinos' 60. It is the first title for Boca president Juan Román Riquelme and captain Leandro Paredes since his return to the club. Boca will pursue further silverware in the Clausura playoffs and the Copa Sudamericana and Copa Argentina finals.
