Arokodare aims for Kluivert's Ajax record at Grolsch Veste

Arokodare has scored in five of six Eredivisie starts for Ajax; a goal at Twente would match Kluivert's record of six goals in seven opening starts.

Tolu Arokodare, on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, has made an impressive start to his Ajax career in the Eredivisie this season. The striker has scored six goals in the league, five of them coming as a starter. He found the net against Telstar, PSV, NEC, Sparta Rotterdam and AZ, but failed to score in his sixth start against Fortuna Sittard.

If Arokodare scores as a starter in Ajax's upcoming match at FC Twente in the Grolsch Veste, he will equal a club record set by Patrick Kluivert in the 1994/95 season. Kluivert scored in six of his first seven Eredivisie starts for Ajax, beginning with his debut against RKC and continuing against Vitesse, Roda JC, Dordrecht '90, Go Ahead Eagles and SC Heerenveen before failing to score against FC Utrecht.

That 1994/95 season was historic for Ajax under Louis van Gaal, culminating in a Champions League triumph when Kluivert scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over AC Milan in the final.
