Aston Villa's January transfer priority is obvious after latest development

Aston Villa should prioritize signing a backup goalkeeper in January while Zion Suzuki is away at the Asian Cup with Japan.

Aston Villa face a goalkeeping shortage in January as Zion Suzuki, who joined from Parma for £25.7 million in August, is expected to be absent for around eight games representing Japan at the Asian Cup. Manager Unai Emery should accelerate plans to sign a backup keeper to cover Suzuki's absence, with current number two Marco Bizot having struggled previously. Suzuki has impressed in his early Villa appearances and ranks highly among Premier League keepers for save percentage this season.
