Copa del Rey draw sets Catalan clubs' first-round matchups

Copa del Rey 2026/27 draw completed; Catalan clubs including Espanyol face lower-division opponents in October's first round.

The Copa del Rey 2026/27 draw took place Monday at Las Rozas, with the first round of matches set for October 27. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Atlético Madrid and Real Sociedad were excluded as they will compete in the Supercopa de España in January. Among 112 clubs in the competition, seven Catalan teams were drawn, with Espanyol—the only Catalan top-flight side currently—facing Sestao River, a team they last met in the 1989/90 Segunda División season. Girona, which dropped from the top flight last season, also received a draw.
