Athletic monetises Yashin Award within 24 hours with goalkeeper tribute merchandise

Athletic Club launches merchandise line honouring goalkeeping legacy, featuring designs of Iribar and Unai Simón.

Athletic Club has launched a new merchandise collection within 24 hours of Unai Simón winning the Yashin Award as the world's best goalkeeper. The collection, titled "tribute to the legacy of Basque goalkeeping", features three items: a t-shirt, hoodie and cap, each displaying a logo with parallel saves from José Ángel Iribar and Simón.

The club's commercial department is positioning the line as a bridge between two generations of Athletic goalkeepers. Iribar, a legendary figure in the club's history and universal reference point for the position, is connected through the imagery to Simón, the 2026 Yashin Award winner and heir to Athletic's goalkeeping tradition. The collection emphasises shared values and responsibility in protecting the club's century-old history.

Prices range from €20 for the cap to €76 for the hoodie, with t-shirts available in junior (€30) and adult (€32) sizes. The move reflects Athletic's strategic focus on increasing revenue through retail channels.
