"Risky, courageous move" – Manager on rejecting Nottingham Forest's summer offer

Celta Vigo manager Giráldez defends rejecting Forest's €15m bid for Rueda in August, calling it a bold decision despite the player's approval.

Nottingham Forest offered €15m for Celta Vigo right-back Javi Rueda in late August, with the player agreeing personal terms. Celta initially accepted but made a U-turn and rejected the bid in the final week of the window. Manager Claudio Giráldez has since defended the decision as courageous, with sporting director Marco Garcés stating the club would have needed €30-40m to let the 24-year-old leave. Real Madrid retain 50% of Rueda's rights.
