Florian Wirtz proposition emerges as Andoni Iraola finds intriguing solution to Liverpool problem

Iraola rotated Wirtz, Isak and Barcola for Liverpool's Champions League win, with younger players Nyoni and Koumas impressing in midfield and attack.

Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola made wholesale changes for Tuesday's Champions League clash against Villarreal at Anfield, rotating out the £100m trio of Florian Wirtz, Alexander Isak and Bradley Barcola due to fixture congestion following a tough match at Brentford. Young midfielders Trey Nyoni and Lewis Koumas started instead, with Nyoni particularly impressive, completing 94.3% of his passes before being substituted late on. Wirtz came on at half-time and scored his first goal of the season, continuing a run of strong performances.
