Ten Hag: 'Nature catches up with everyone, including Cristiano Ronaldo'

Ten Hag criticises Ronaldo's role at Portugal, saying the 39-year-old prioritises personal brand over team success and holds the nation back.

Erik ten Hag, now technical director at FC Twente, has criticised Cristiano Ronaldo's approach to international football with Portugal. In an interview, Ten Hag argues that Ronaldo acts as if he is bigger than the club and country he represents, prioritising his personal brand over team interests. He believes that while older players can still contribute at international level, age catches up with everyone, and that Portugal would perform better without him. Ten Hag acknowledges Ronaldo's past greatness but says he is no longer capable of leading his team to major success.
