Courtois admits removal from Belgium WhatsApp group as contract renewal nears

Real Madrid goalkeeper Courtois says contract renewal talks are progressing well and expects resolution soon, while addressing his absence from Belgium's WhatsApp group.

Thibaut Courtois discussed his contract situation with Real Madrid in an interview with DAZN Belgium, confirming that renewal negotiations are on track and should be resolved quickly once his agent and father finalize remaining details. His current deal runs until June 2027. The goalkeeper also addressed speculation about his Belgium absence, revealing he was removed from the national team's WhatsApp group, which players use to share training schedules and communications. Courtois expressed support for Kylian Mbappé to win the Ballon d'Or, arguing no player performed better individually this season despite Real Madrid's lack of collective silverware.
