Belgium: Thibaut Courtois removed from squad WhatsApp group

Courtois removed from Belgium's WhatsApp group after stepping back from international duty due to injury concerns and fixture congestion.

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has been removed from Belgium's squad WhatsApp group following his decision to step back from international football. After a one-hour discussion with new manager Mark van Bommel in Madrid, the 34-year-old was excused from the Nations League window to manage recent muscle injuries and recover. Courtois said the decision was mutual and left the door open for a recall if needed, with backup keepers Senne Lammens and Maarten Vandevoordt covering his absence.
