Lessons from Paris defeat for El Clásico

Flick acknowledged defensive lapses in PSG loss and vowed improvements ahead of El Clásico against Real Madrid.

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick analysed his side's 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes ahead of El Clásico against Real Madrid. While praising his players for doing "many things well" in Paris, Flick identified defensive improvements as crucial for continued collective growth.

The manager highlighted set-piece defending as a key area needing work, particularly against Real Madrid's threat from crosses and dead-ball situations. He singled out Arda Güler as one of Real Madrid's best at set-piece play and emphasised the physical strength of Carlo Ancelotti's squad. "We know one of their strengths is set-piece plays. Arda Güler is one of the best at this. Beyond their quality, they are very strong physically. We've talked about it and trained it today. We have to defend better than we did in Paris. I hope we can show it tomorrow," Flick said.

Barcelona will be without defender Aurélien Koundé for the match, joining the already-sidelined Dani Olmo, Eric García, Andreas Christensen and Roony Bardghji.
