Arteta blasts "terrible" fixture schedule after Arsenal beat Everton

Arteta criticized the fixture schedule after Arsenal beat Everton 2-0, citing minimal recovery time between a Wednesday European match in Munich and Saturday's Premier League game.

Mikel Arteta expressed frustration with Arsenal's fixture congestion following a 2-0 victory over Everton. The manager praised his team's performance but used his post-match press conference to criticize what he called a "terrible" schedule, particularly the tight turnaround after Wednesday's European match in Munich.

Arteta outlined the demanding sequence: a Sunday afternoon fixture, Wednesday night in Munich, a late return Thursday, and then another Premier League match Saturday at 3pm against a strong opponent. Despite the accumulated fatigue and injuries, Arsenal delivered a solid defensive display and secured three points. Gabriel Magalhaes scored one of the goals despite a physical scare during the match, and Arteta praised the defender's mentality for wanting to continue. The victory keeps Arsenal in contention for the title.
