Gilardino: "We conceded two easy goals. We need a spark to turn things around"

Parma manager Gilardino blamed defensive lapses after a 2-1 loss to Lazio, saying the team must find a spark to reverse their three-game losing streak ahead of Wednesday's crucial clash with Udinese.

Parma suffered their third consecutive defeat, losing 2-1 to Lazio at the Olimpico in Rome despite Lontani's goal. Manager Alberto Gilardino acknowledged the team showed improvement in the first half compared to their previous match against Torino, but conceded two soft goals in the second half that proved costly.

Speaking to Sky Sport, Gilardino identified defensive naivety as a recurring problem the squad must address, particularly given their fight for survival. He defended his team selection, explaining he rested Bernabé due to a minor injury and recent playing time, while praising young winger Lontani's potential despite his inconsistency. Gilardino also called on experienced players like Sierro and Diego Carlos to provide leadership and communication on the pitch.

With Udinese visiting in midweek for a crucial relegation battle, Gilardino insisted the team must improve their mentality and find a positive result to turn their season around, though he stopped short of calling the match decisive.
