Stefan Borson reveals how much it will cost Man United to sign Bruno Fernandes' replacement

Former City adviser Borson says United will need £100m+ to replace Fernandes, whose contract expires this summer amid Saudi interest.

Stefan Borson, former financial adviser to Manchester City, has told Football Insider that Manchester United will struggle to find a replacement for Bruno Fernandes for less than £100 million when the time comes.

Fernandes, 32, has a contract expiring at the end of the season, with United holding an option to extend. However, the playmaker has attracted interest from Saudi Pro League clubs, and speculation about his future has intensified following his recent public criticism of teammates and manager Michael Carrick's tactics after the Champions League defeat to Como.

"He's going to be 33 soon. So whatever happens, the Bruno Fernandes era is coming to an end as being a dominant, key player," Borson said. "And it's very unlikely that United are going to be able to find a player of his quality for less than £100 million." Lisandro Martinez has also publicly voiced frustrations at the club's investment strategy, and could join Fernandes on the departure list in January.
