Bolton need to stick to their guns in crucial run

Bolton lost 5-1 to Middlesbrough but a fan writer argues they should maintain their attacking philosophy despite the heavy defeat.

Bolton suffered a heavy 5-1 home defeat to Middlesbrough, who moved to the top of the Championship with a dominant display. Middlesbrough had 31 shots and could have scored more, though Bolton keeper Gavin Bazunu made several top-class saves.

Despite the scoreline, fan writer Kasey Smith argues Bolton shouldn't abandon their attacking approach. While their all-guns-blazing style left them vulnerable to Middlesbrough's clinical finishing, it's the same philosophy that has brought wins over Wolves and Norwich. Smith believes manager Steven Schumacher needs to find a balance—retaining attacking intent while minimizing defensive vulnerabilities.

Bolton's only goal came from Theo Bair. With a crucial run of fixtures ahead, Smith says this period will define Schumacher's tenure.
