Lamine, another 'Young Talent': 'This award is for Cubarsí'

Lamine Yamal won the Kopa Trophy for young talent at the Ballon d'Or ceremony, dedicating the award to injured Barcelona teammate Pau Cubarsí.

Lamine Yamal claimed the Kopa Trophy for the world's best young player at the Ballon d'Or gala in London, winning the award for the third consecutive year at age 19. The Barcelona forward received the prize from Andriy Shevchenko and used his acceptance speech to honour teammate Pau Cubarsí, who did not travel to the ceremony to rest. "It's an honour to be here. I would have liked Cubarsí to be here, he deserves it. I would have liked it to be for him," Yamal said. He added: "It's the third year I'm here. I'm very grateful to my club and my national team. I'm going to keep working to win titles." When Thierry Henry asked if this was the trophy he wanted to win, Yamal replied in Spanish: "I want them all, but this one was for Cubarsí."
