Kane's Ballon d'Or with a Spanish flavour

Kane won the Ballon d'Or at 33 after scoring 73 goals in 65 games and winning three trophies with Bayern, crediting Madrid-based sports doctor Alejandro Elorriaga for his fitness.

Harry Kane has won the 70th Ballon d'Or award at age 33, capping a remarkable season with Bayern Munich. The striker scored 73 goals across 65 matches for club and country while helping Bayern win the Bundesliga, German Cup and German Super Cup.

Kane attributes his sustained peak performance to his long-standing work with Madrid-based sports doctor Alejandro Elorriaga, whom he has worked with for over six years. The pair first connected in January 2020 when Kane suffered a complete left hamstring tendon rupture while at Tottenham and required surgery. Since joining Bayern in 2023, Kane has missed only nine matches through injury.

Elorriaga, who specializes in pain management and functional recovery for elite athletes, works with Kane not only during injury rehabilitation but also on injury prevention. Kane recently highlighted the doctor's role in his success, noting that "Alejandro has played a very important part in my success" and emphasizing that "we work a lot behind the scenes." The partnership demonstrates how modern football's increased fixture congestion and intensity can be managed through dedicated off-pitch support.
