Alexia Putellas and the "perfect story" with her Barcelona

Putellas won her third Ballon d'Or and reflected on her 14 years at Barcelona, calling it "the perfect story" and praising the collective achievements of her final season.

Alexia Putellas celebrated her third Ballon d'Or in London, looking back on her 14-year career at Barcelona with gratitude and pride. The London City Lionesses midfielder described her time at the Catalan club as "the perfect story" and "magical," emphasizing that her journey exceeded even her own dreams.

Putellas highlighted the collective success of her final Barcelona season, noting that the team won every trophy within reach. "Each match, each knockout tie I will remember forever. It was perfect, practically nothing could be improved," she said. She also stressed the importance of the unseen preparation and attention to detail that allows players to compete at the highest level.

Reflecting on her legacy in women's football, Putellas avoided making her rivalry with fellow Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmatí the focus, instead celebrating the depth of talent in Spanish football. She advised her younger self to live every moment as if it were the last, a lesson learned after her 2022 injury, and encouraged young girls to pursue football with confidence regardless of gender or background.
