Man United's updated Bruno Fernandes plan revealed

United hierarchy believe a managerial change will reset Fernandes' situation after he was benched for the Bournemouth defeat; his contract expires next summer with an extension option available.

Manchester United sources have told Football Insider that the club expects a change of manager to resolve the current tension with Bruno Fernandes. The attacking midfielder was benched for last weekend's defeat to Bournemouth, with interim manager Michael Carrick feeling he had "no choice" given what sources describe as a "difficult" situation. United fans also expressed frustration toward the Portuguese captain.

The club hierarchy believes the unease will not persist beyond a managerial change, which could prompt a reset for Fernandes and his attitude toward Old Trafford. Carrick is under significant pressure following a series of damaging defeats and is running out of time to save his job.

Fernandes' contract expires at the end of the season, though United hold an option to extend by a further year. Football Insider previously reported that United are considering triggering the extension before potentially selling him in the summer window to maximize his transfer value. Saudi Pro League clubs are expected to show sustained interest. Eddie Howe, the former Newcastle manager, is being considered for the United job and is reportedly open to taking the role.
