Chelsea have 'interest' in Jarrad Branthwaite as updated Everton 'plan' revealed

Chelsea are admirers of Everton defender Branthwaite, but Everton plan to keep him; Man United's bids of £35m and £40m were rejected last year.

Chelsea are among the clubs tracking Jarrad Branthwaite as a potential centre-back target, according to sources. The 24-year-old has impressed for Everton this season and earned a recall to the England squad after an injury-hit 2025-26 campaign.

However, Everton have no intention of selling. The club plans to keep Branthwaite for as long as possible, viewing him as a key part of their defensive setup. Manchester United attempted to sign him in 2025 with two separate bids worth £35 million and £40 million, both of which were rejected by the Toffees.

Chelsea are expected to enter the market for defensive reinforcements in 2027 and could make a move for Branthwaite, though they face competition from Manchester United and overseas clubs. Former Chelsea striker Pat Nevin has previously endorsed a move, calling Branthwaite "top-class" and saying he "ticks every single box for Chelsea."
