Bruno Fernandes' 'unforgivable' Michael Carrick criticism means he's 'finished' at Man United

Scholes says Fernandes is 'finished' at United after publicly criticizing Carrick's tactics; the captain was benched for Bournemouth but expected to return against Chelsea.

Bruno Fernandes has drawn criticism from club legend Paul Scholes after publicly questioning Michael Carrick's tactical approach following Manchester United's 4-1 Champions League defeat to Como and subsequent 3-0 loss to Bournemouth. Fernandes was substituted during the Como match and visibly frustrated on the sideline, then told media that Carrick's system of not pressing man-to-man left too much space and allowed opponents to build confidence.

Carrick responded in his post-match press conference, stating his system requires players to run. Fernandes was subsequently benched for Sunday's 3-0 home loss to Bournemouth. Scholes called the captain's comments "unforgivable" and suggested he should leave for Saudi Arabia, questioning whether any manager could trust him. Fellow club legend Nicky Butt said Fernandes had "killed himself in one interview" and tarnished his legacy.

However, The Athletic reports Carrick and Fernandes are expected to move past the dispute, with the captain in contention for Saturday's Chelsea match. Carrick himself faces mounting pressure with United 16th in the Premier League after winning just one of eight games, and the Chelsea fixture could prove decisive for his future.
