Derek McInnes responds to Hearts fans fury as Rangers boss reveals what Wouter Vrancken really told him

Rangers drew 2-2 at Hearts in McInnes's return to his former club; he downplayed a post-match exchange with Hearts boss Vrancken.

Derek McInnes returned to Tynecastle for the first time since leaving Hearts to manage Rangers, facing a hostile reception from supporters who once backed him. The match ended 2-2 after a tense encounter in which Hearts took a 2-1 lead through goals from Claudio Braga and Calvin Miller, following Kevin Kelsy's opener for Rangers. Olwethu Makhanya's 88th-minute equaliser rescued a point for the visitors.

After the final whistle, there was a notable stand-off between McInnes and Hearts manager Wouter Vrancken during their handshake. McInnes later claimed Vrancken had thanked him for leaving such a strong squad, while Vrancken said they had simply spoken and "it's all fine". McInnes acknowledged the hostile atmosphere but said he understood the fans' reaction to his departure. He felt his young forward line had lessons to learn from the experience, though he praised Hearts' performance and singled out Rangers defender Makhanya for an outstanding display.
