Painful defeats

Barcelona suffered defeats to PSG and Real Madrid this week; Lamine Yamal missed out on the Balón d'Or, which went to Harry Kane.

Barcelona has endured a difficult week on the pitch. The club lost to PSG in Paris and fell to Real Madrid at Camp Nou, with both matches potentially ending in draws had the team shown more defensive discipline. The analysis suggests Barcelona's recurring tactical error—pushing too many players forward in search of victory—leaves them vulnerable to counterattacks, a pattern that repeats season after season despite the coaching staff's awareness.

Off the pitch, Lamine Yamal's failure to win the Balón d'Or added to the disappointment. The award went to Harry Kane, whose consistency and humility earned recognition. At 19, Yamal already possesses a World Cup medal—an achievement many Ballon d'Or winners never attain—but the young winger's occasional arrogance and questionable behaviour on the pitch work against him. The piece suggests Yamal should emulate teammate Cubarsí's professionalism and prudence to reach his full potential, noting that attitude and character matter more than individual awards in achieving greatness.
