Design unveiled for new Milan and Inter stadium to replace San Siro

AC Milan and Inter have unveiled designs for Stadium Generali, a 71,500-capacity replacement for San Siro set to open in 2032 at an estimated cost of €2.3bn.

AC Milan and Internazionale have revealed the design for Stadium Generali, a new stadium that will replace the iconic San Siro (Giuseppe Meazza Stadium) in Milan. The clubs plan to demolish the current ground, which has been in use since 1926, and build a new stadium on the same site.

The new stadium will have a capacity of 71,500, slightly smaller than San Siro's current 75,000. It is scheduled to be completed by 2032, in time for the European Championship that Italy will co-host. The entire project is estimated to cost €2.3 billion, as it will also include a shopping centre and hotel alongside the stadium.

The design is inspired by Milan's architectural heritage and emphasises innovation and sustainability. The project still requires final approval, with Milan and Inter hoping to complete the paperwork by June 2027.
