Playing for them is a dream – Player responds after Manchester United's officials travel

Manchester United, Leicester, Watford, Roma and Freiburg scouts watched the 17-year-old Swedish midfielder in action; Månsson says playing for United or Roma would be a dream.

Oliver Månsson, a 17-year-old midfielder for IFK Göteborg, has attracted attention from several top European clubs after impressing in the Swedish club's 1-1 draw against Djurgårdens IF on Wednesday. Manchester United, Leicester City, Watford, AS Roma and SC Freiburg all had scouts in attendance to watch the teenager, who has made 19 appearances and 1,452 minutes for his club this season.

Månsson told Swedish media he is honoured by the interest and believes it validates his progress. "It's really great that the clubs are here. If they're watching me, that's proof to me that I've done well," he said. When asked about his dream move, he added: "They're big clubs. Playing for one of them someday is a dream, of course."

IFK Göteborg director Jesper Jansson confirmed no formal contact has been made with any of the interested clubs but suggested Månsson could command a higher fee than the club's previous record sale of Malick Yalcouyé to Brighton for €7m in July 2024. Jansson highlighted the player's age, consistency, EU passport and intelligence as factors that could increase his market value.
