Milan, Cardinale: "Amorim is my Top Gun. I believe in the Scudetto"

Milan owner Cardinale backs Amorim as his "Top Gun" and insists the Scudetto is achievable, while vowing never to cede control of the club again.

Gerry Cardinale gave wide-ranging interviews to Gazzetta and Repubblica, defending manager Ruben Amorim and outlining his vision for Milan. Cardinale compared his commitment to Amorim to a Tom Cruise quote from Top Gun, saying he will not abandon the manager and that the club is breathing a different air under him after four years of instability. "He is my technician and we will continue to work together until we achieve the leap in quality," Cardinale said, adding that constant managerial changes prevent winning.

On the title race, Cardinale expressed belief Milan can win the Scudetto "at one hundred percent," though he acknowledged Inter's current strength and said the focus must be on taking matches one at a time. He confirmed Milan will remain "aggressive and opportunistic" in the January transfer window, targeting reinforcements for the bench while avoiding wasteful spending.

Cardinale also reflected on his ownership since 2022, saying he found "deep fractures" in the club that he has now fixed. He stressed he will never again hand over control of Milan to anyone else, having lost four years to what he called mismanagement. The owner also mentioned preliminary conversations with Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr and expressed curiosity about Cristiano Ronaldo's future plans.
