Blues' 'togetherness' is the key, says Demarai Gray

Gray credits squad depth and team unity as Birmingham push for promotion from the Championship after slipping to seventh following a Cardiff defeat.

Birmingham City winger Demarai Gray has highlighted the importance of squad togetherness and improved depth as the Blues pursue a Championship promotion bid. Speaking to BBC Radio WM, Gray praised the healthy competition within the squad, noting the club has strengthened significantly since last season with like-for-like replacements in attacking positions.

Gray, who rejoined Birmingham 16 months ago after spells at Leicester, Bayer Leverkusen, Everton and Al-Ettifaq, pointed to improved away form as a key factor in their promotion push, though they slipped to seventh after a loss at Cardiff last Saturday. He highlighted the absence of targetman August Priske in that defeat and suggested the striker could feature in Saturday's trip to promoted Lincoln City.

The winger, who has scored four times from the bench this season, credited Leicester's title-winning togetherness as a template for success and expressed confidence in his chances despite competing with August signing Liam Millar for the left-wing spot.
