Manchester United 22-man travelling squad vs Chelsea as huge injury boost confirmed

Kobbie Mainoo returns to Manchester United's squad for Chelsea after recovering from injury; Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw absent.

Kobbie Mainoo has been included in Manchester United's 22-man travelling squad for the Premier League trip to Chelsea this weekend, providing a boost to manager Michael Carrick after the midfielder returned to full training on Wednesday.

Mainoo was confirmed in contention at Carrick's pre-Chelsea press conference. However, Marcus Rashford and Luke Shaw were not spotted travelling with the squad on Friday afternoon. Rashford has been dealing with hip and thigh issues, while Shaw has not played since October 10 against Tottenham. Benjamin Sesko and Patrick Dorgu remain sidelined with longer-term injuries.

Carrick's squad selection comes after Manchester United's 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth last weekend, which prompted the club's decision-makers to assess his future. United won 1-0 at Stamford Bridge in April under Carrick's management.
