If Mourinho has his film, JAL stars in a 'Rock & Roll' book

Racing manager José Alberto López is the subject of a new book, 'José Alberto, Rock & Roll de Primera', chronicling his leadership during the club's promotion campaign.

José Alberto López, Racing's manager, is the subject of a new biography titled 'José Alberto, Rock & Roll de Primera', written by Marcos Menocal, a journalist from Diario Montañés. The book chronicles López's journey leading Racing to promotion after several near-misses in previous seasons.

The project began when López made a memorable off-the-record comment during a press conference in the 2022-23 season, saying "Rock & Roll" is his style—a phrase that caught Menocal's attention as potential book material. After Racing secured promotion, López agreed to cooperate, and Menocal spent six weeks compiling interviews and documentation to complete the manuscript.

The book explores López's personality beyond match tactics, including his hobbies, motivations, fears and concerns. It details his willingness to resign when the previous sporting director left, his contract renewals, and how he experiences life in the city after wins and losses. The book was published by El Desvelo Ediciones and is already in its first print run, following a tradition of Racing's notable managers having published works.
