Terzic: "Real Sociedad are in good form, they have a lot of confidence"

Terzic praised Real Sociedad's form ahead of Sunday's Basque derby, highlighting their four consecutive league wins and tactical flexibility under Matarazzo.

Edin Terzic held a press conference at Athletic Bilbao's Lezama training ground to preview Sunday's Basque derby against Real Sociedad, his first official head-to-head with the club at San Mamés. The German manager offered extensive praise for Real Sociedad's recent trajectory, noting their four consecutive La Liga victories and describing them as being in optimal form.

Terzic analysed Real Sociedad's tactical approach in detail, explaining that while they like to press high, they are equally comfortable sitting in a mid-block and dangerous on the counter-attack. He emphasised their flexibility and frequent rotations, making them difficult to pin down tactically. He also singled out Mikel Oyarzabal as a key threat, noting the winger's World Cup winner status and regular starting role for Spain.

Regarding the derby itself, Terzic acknowledged the significance of the fixture for Athletic Bilbao and expressed his eagerness to experience it, drawing on his extensive experience of derby matches throughout his managerial career. He dismissed the relevance of historical head-to-head records, insisting that only the present moment matters and that the focus must be on securing victory.
