Dermot Desmond not interested in Celtic anymore and I have banner suggestion for raging fans at Falkirk – Hugh Keevins

Hugh Keevins criticises Celtic principal shareholder Dermot Desmond for his absence from matches and questions his commitment to the club amid poor results.

Hugh Keevins has launched a scathing attack on Celtic principal shareholder Dermot Desmond, noting that the club's owner has not attended a match in a calendar year, with his last appearance in the directors' box coming on October 29, 2025, when Martin O'Neill's side beat Falkirk 4-0.

Keevins argues that Desmond's apparent lack of interest in Celtic is emblematic of a broader crisis at the club. With Celtic winning just three of their last nine matches across all competitions, the columnist questions whether O'Neill's management is the real problem, citing concerns raised by captain Callum McGregor and defender Cameron Carter-Vickers about confusing team selection and tactical approaches. Keevins also criticises striker Kasper Hogh, whom O'Neill predicted would score 20 goals this season, for underperforming and questions whether the player is being given opportunities to justify his transfer fee rather than for the team's benefit.

The situation has deteriorated to the point where Celtic face a Europa League tie against Besiktas on Thursday with minimal credibility on the European stage, sitting near the bottom of the 36-team table. Keevins suggests that if Celtic fans were to unfurl a banner at Falkirk, it should read: "Decline. Decay. Desmond."
