Sources: Tottenham in race to sign Mauricio Pochettino favourite

Tottenham join Manchester City and Manchester United in tracking Villarreal right-back Alex Freeman, 22, who impressed at the World Cup under Pochettino.

Tottenham are among several Premier League clubs monitoring Villarreal right-back Alex Freeman, sources have told Football Insider. The 22-year-old has established himself as a regular starter in La Liga and featured for the USA at the World Cup under Mauricio Pochettino. Manchester City and Manchester United are also tracking Freeman, who has impressed with his versatility across the back line.

former Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi is eyeing defensive reinforcements as he looks to reshape the backline. The interest comes amid uncertainty over Pedro Porro's future, despite the Spanish defender signing a contract extension to 2031 in the summer. Porro has indicated a desire to return to Spain, with Barcelona and Real Madrid mentioned as potential destinations.
