OL-Angers: striking images of Paulo Fonseca's emotional reaction as Sporting discussions emerge

Lyon manager Fonseca was visibly emotional after his side's 2-0 win over Angers, with reports linking him to Sporting CP intensifying.

Paulo Fonseca showed visible emotion during and after Lyon's 2-0 victory over Angers on Sunday in Ligue 1's ninth round. The 53-year-old Portuguese manager was moved to tears on the pitch after Corentin Tolisso's 86th-minute header sealed the win, with the midfielder running to embrace him alongside his teammates. Fonseca broke down again as he left the field at full-time, with Lyon staff attempting to console him.

The emotional display comes amid reports that Fonseca is in discussions with Sporting CP about replacing manager Rui Borges. CNN Portugal revealed the talks on Friday, with negotiations potentially accelerating during the next international break. Fonseca has not managed in his native Portugal for a decade, since leaving Sporting Braga. Tolisso addressed the speculation after the match, saying he did not know more than the media and that Fonseca had told the squad nothing, adding: "I want to tell him to stay. We still have beautiful things to do. Since he arrived, he's doing extraordinary work."
