Atlético is the dark horse to win La Liga

Atlético Madrid's recent form and defensive solidity have made them genuine La Liga title contenders, with a crucial clash against Barcelona this Sunday.

Atlético Madrid have emerged as serious La Liga title challengers following their victory over Valencia and strong recent performances under Diego Simeone. A panel of journalists and former players on Radio Marca's 'El Corrillo' debate show discussed the club's credentials, with Mundo Deportivo's Manel Bruña declaring: "Atlético is the dark horse to win La Liga this year."

Former Atlético player Jorge López Marco highlighted the team's defensive strength, noting six clean sheets already this season, and praised the impact of recent signings like Cuti Romero alongside the progression of players such as Baena and Julián Álvarez. He emphasized the squad's ambition and depth: "This year there's ambition and the second line can finish it off. It's a team that can generate because it has the hunger to win, it has no fear and doesn't come out to speculate."

Another former striker, Juanma Prieto, believes Atlético have finally shed their inconsistency of previous seasons. With Barcelona visiting the Metropolitano this Sunday and Bayern Munich in the Champions League to follow, Atlético have the chance to prove their title credentials against elite opposition.
